How many of you are fully aware of the 3 Vs of communication. If you are not, they are Verbal, Voice and visual. Verbal is the actual spoken words, content, structure. Voice is the tonality, pace, pitch, tone of the vocal and last but not least is visual which is the gesture, posture, movement, face, appearance.
Now let me share with you the 3 Vs of life. 1st we have vision. “We have a vision for tomorrow, Just Believe!” this is one of our national songs. “ I have a dream, I have a dream that one day the children of the black people and the children of the white people would play side by side” this were the dream words of Martin Luther king. A picture paints a thousand words. Sometimes, it important to be clear and know exactly what you want. Making it clear in our minds eye.Visualize, imaginize, make it in living colour. Just like the pilot visualize, knowing where to land, his end destination. He thinks of the runway, the city, the control room, his end location. Some of us dream, but always remember to wake up to the reality of life so that you can materialize those dreams. There was a study done with a bunch of college students. One group was allowed to dream and the other, not allowed to dream. After a month later, they were put to the test, those that were allowed to dream had normal lives and those that were not were cranky, miserable.
The next V is for Victory. It is not only, “We are the Champions my friend” It is about “ I get knocked down but I get up again, u never leave me down”. It is not about winning the race but running the marathon of life. What does not break you, makes you. It is like the cowboy riding his horse. When he is knocked down, he does not just stay down and say “Oh God, Why is this happening to me” but to get back up and ride that horse, The same thing goes with life. We all go thru set backs in our lives, sometimes it is best to move on. This reminds me of a story of a caterpillar in a cocoon. A passer by felt the caterpillar was struggling during its transition to a butterfly and decided to make the hole easier for the caterpillar. Little did he realize that the caterpillar laid shrivelled up and not able to flap or form its wings. It was in a very pathetic state. Then he realize that it was nature’s answer for the caterpillar to go thru the struggle so that it can pump the fluid to its wings for it to fly, the same thing goes with us to go thru the struggle in life to become better and better.
The last V is Value. I use to complain that I did not have a pair of shoes till I came across a person with no set of legs, then is when I realize the significance of what I have. Being grateful for what I have. I never knew the significance of water until I was put to the test in the desert. Be grateful for what we have. How many of you play poker. Some times you get different hands in a poker game. Sometimes you get good hands and sometimes you get bad hands. You have to deal with the cards that you are dealt with, but we still play each game and the same thing goes with life. Your altitude determines your altitude. You guys heard earlier that a picture paint a thousand word. There is another old Chinese proverb that says that the tongue can paint what the eye can’t see. A Sharp tongue can cut your own throat, If you walk into an interview with a whole lot of ego, all you going to walk out is with a bag of fresh air, swallowing your pride very seldom leader to indigestion.
